Michael Stivic - I wouldn't expect you to know. He a character from a TV show in the 1970's called "All in the Family." He was played by Rob Reiner, a movie director know for such films as; "Spinal Tap," "Stand By Me," "Misery," "When Harry Met Sally."

Sausages - We have sausages. When I was a kid I lived in Chicago and Polish Sausages were very popular then and there.

Yes we have reruns but not a lot just sometimes. We have a lot reruns South American's serial movies do you know what is it??? serial movies for women's about love etc. (maybe you know Esmeralda ,Rebellious Angel , Fashion onto Success??? ). I do believe that some of the Spanish stations do offer melodramas. I used to watch them a long time ago to maintain my Spanish, but I haven't watched any for years. You're correct, they're just TOO sappy. Lately, I watch Spanish variety shows and comedies.

I'd have to say that I associate Poland with sausage too.

I'm sorry to say that I really don't know much about Poland, it's history, or it's culture. Pehaps if you hang around this forum long enough I'll have a wonderful opportunity to learn. And maybe you can learn a thing or two from us as well

The area where my family comes from in Germany has passed between Polish and German hands more than once. Please don't ask me the name of the town as I would not know the answer.

I do like the fine liver paste that comes from the town of Braunschweiger. This was the source of some fine debate over taste in food last week on the forum.

Polar bears.

When I was little I was utterly convinced that polar bears came from Poland and nothing could dissaude me from this. Was a strange child but you can see the logic surely?

I think of my friend from years ago. Frank Orla-Bukowski. He claimed his family emigrated to escape persecution when the government changed. (He was supposedly Old Royalty).
