Half empty. That way, you're pleasantly surprised when it's actually half full.

I never realized this could cause some misunderstanding by european members

Someone with a happy outlook is said to look at life as a glass half full (seeing what's there). Someone with a darker outlook on life is said to look at the glass half empty (seeing what's NOT there).

I'm with Pinky and mookydooky. To a more severe degree, perhaps. When I want to complain, I remind myself that things can always get worse. And bruddah, they can.

Most of the time the glass is half empty, the rest of the time the glass is completely empty and I'm just grateful that at least I still have it

Mine too. This way I'm ALWAYS pleasantly surprized. Like if I go on a date. I DON'T EXPECT NOTHING, if something happends, COOL.

If the glass is half empty that means I drank the first half which means I'm seeing things in a more positive light but.... if I drank the first half I must have been down about something.

I say the glass contains 1/2 of its capacity.

Half full. The amount of liquid is the same, but you have the choice to savour the last half, enjoy every drop there and be fulfilled that it was a good drink; or to mourn the first half, which prohibits enjoyment of the second. In effect then, you only had half a drink.

Half full. Expect the best but be prepared in case the worst happens.

The Glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

In speech id say half full, in the philosiphical sense the glass is helf empty.
