Picture the scene. CampAOA2010, takes place on a massive cruise ship chartered and paid for by the combined massively inflated salaries that the now properly employed younger forum members earn due to their sheer genius and innovative ideas.

The membership sit in the bar and listen to Robbie holding forth on the new Grabby brand jockstrap with in built fax facility and shredder he's just patented. Cosmopolitan magazine's Bachelor of the Year, Spode, sits in a corner and entertains the female newbies he lured to the forum with the promise of a cruise while Kaitain, who was turned purple after a lab accident involving Ribena and crude oil, hands out shares of the large oil consortium he sued and now owns, in an attempt to get their attention.

Everyone's relaxed and happy although still slightly worried about Betty's offer to help out in the ship's galley even though she hasn't burned a kitchen down in weeks. In the years between this meet and the forum's 1st anniversary she started a catering company but had to file for bankruptcy after no one would insure her against fire any more. They're also a little distracted by the ambient "music" Pinky insists on playing in the background. Bless him, one top 40 hit, a million dollars earnt and lost (in the still unidentified Brain's attempt at world domination) and now he composes cheesy holiday camp musak for a living.

Our forum patriach Daniel sits regally in the middle of the room, the forum's financial future secured by his noble act of donating himself to science for a project in which he was uploaded to a small grey computer which Patti keeps under the bed. He floats in cyberspace banning people he doesn't like and communicates with Patti via a voice synthesizer. She still hasn't told him about the mute button the research guys installed for her a few months ago.

Unbeknownst to everyone - Random Nonsense, Dimmreaper and The Spyder are lured by the call of big engines that are crying out to be revved up, tweaked, and turboed up to within an inch of their lives. They creep away, down to the engine room and start tinkering. Satisfied that they've fixed the already PERFECTLY FUNCTIONING SYSTEM (nutters) they go back upstairs and rejoin the party.

A few hours later you awake, washed up on a sandy beach. In a Tom Hanks Cast Away stylee pose you stand on the beach and look up and down scanning the horizon for other survivors yelling "Hello!!!" intermittantly with the only reply coming from the birds flying out of the tropical interior of the island wheeling down around you to examine the intruder. Out at sea all that remains of the ship is a small plume of smoke lingering in the air as the last air bubbles from the sinking wreckage float upwards and burst on the surface. Alas the entire forum membership has perished while trying to rescue the beer and computers after the newly overclocked engines exploded in protest at their treatment and as revenge for all the computer parts which AOA is responsible for frying.

You're alone. Not even a volleyball for company. Until a small dot appears at the far end of the beach, a person clutching the cracked remains of what was a beautifully modded case and wailing about the loss of their rig (and the loss of all their friends of course). Jumping up and shouting you get the person's attention and they begin to stagger towards you. As they get closer you see that it's.....

Should the unthinkable happen and you ended up on a desert island with only one other survivor of the AOA cruise catastrophy...

Who would you want to get stuck with?

Who would you not want to get stuck with?

And why?

If you answer one you answer both! That's the rule.

As I'm posing the questions it's only right that I go first.

Who I'd want with me:

Being a student, alcohol is important to me and I think Kaitain with his all encompasing knowledge and craving of the stuff plus his chemical engineering background would be the most likely person to quickly be driven to finding a method of making booze on the island. Plus he's quite nice to look at when not purple. Although I think the prospect of him deprived of caffiene and women would be quite scary.

Robbie makes me laugh and his choice in trousers and choice of gestures would no doubt be handy for frightening off any local savages with bones in their hair. Be fun to have around.

A handy man would be helpful and Surlyjoe strikes me as being a useful fella to have around. One who can build me a shelter and carry heavy stuff while looking big and scary enough to protect me from any savages not scared by Rob.

Betty would be a close choice as much as I like men, their company can become a little boring after a while and also I'd never have to worry about whether or not we could get a campfire started.

Southernman would probably be my final choice as he's probably the person from AOA that i'm closest to and who better to sit next to a campfire with than my online chat buddy? After all, once food has been gathered and shelters built what else would there be to do but talk? Plus he tells me he's a good cook and I am not. Nuff said.

Who I wouldn't want with me:

Daniel I'm afraid, in human or computer form, wouldn't make the cut. I have visions of him wanting shares of the chocolate I managed to salvage before the boat sank and that's just not on. Plus We'd have to try and attract attention from passing planes by writing stuff on the beach and i'd hate to have all our hard work ruined by his spelling.

Another one who falls into the nice to look at category would be Spode but to be honest I kind of get the impression he'd be a little useless at the manly type jobs I'd be too weak and girly to get done. Plus he wouldn't cope without a net connection (with FTP ) and his harem of women.

Wa11y would be superb as a bodyguard type inhabitant but his fondness for swords worries me a little as does his liking of skirts. Did I say skirts? I meant kilts. If there's only one woman on the island I wouldn't want to be outgirled by as big a bloke as him!

hmm...as far as usefullness goes, anyone person here can fit the bill I think....so I can't really say regarding that category.

For eye candy, I'd like either Spode or Wild_Andy or Allan

For interesting convo's I'd like to keep Lorna or Random Nonsense

hmmm...who wouldn't I want? That's the toughie...I'd have to say Daniel...while the convo's would probably be extremely interesting to me, I have a feeling that I wouldn't get much sleep as I would be staying up contemplating our very exsistence and stuff like that.

It'd be best to be stuck with SurlyJoe, as I feel the chances of survival would be greatest, and through our combined efforts I'm sure we could build a kilowatt short-wave radio to call for help out of coconuts and assorted bits of trash that wash ashore. Plus he has carpentry and framing experience, he can help build a Swiss Family Robinson style mansion. Together I’m sure we could even figure out how to make liquor from coconut milk.

I wouldn't want to be stuck with Betty, she'd set the island on fire leaving it without any vegetation. I wouldn’t be able to build my Swiss Family Robinson style mansion without timber and thatching material.

I'll answer your questions to try to jump start this thread.
I'd want to be stuck with you. If for nothing else that someone inteligent yet not arrogant or competitive to talk to.

The person I would least want to be stranded with would be Daniel. He would want to discus everything, He would get all philisophical, his words would be pretty but also be the devils avdocate. When I would argue with him he would just confuse the whole issue with logic. When I wouldn't listen to logic he would try to calm me down and explian it reasonibly to me. When I wouldn't listen to reason he would politly tell me that if I wasn't comfortible on this island there were others that I could swim to. When I became unreasonible and started screaming Dan would tell me that he was gonna ban me. At that point I would rant furiously and start making all kinds of personal attacks. Next thing I know I would be standing in ankle deep water and being told that I was no longer allowed on this island.
