Any recommended r/etailers in the UK?

There's no ResellerRatings or suchlike in the UK, AFAIK. Can anyone give the nod to some etailers in Britain, please?

Assuming it's compy stuff you're speaking about....

there is www.romulus2.com which gives customers the opportunity to leave feedback.

Personally my favourites are

www.ebuyer.co.uk good range, special offers, usually pretty cheap, BUT don't even try to speak to them.
www.chill-tek.com more about case mods and cooling, fantastic, personal service. Not the cheapest but to date very reliable.
www.overclockers.co.uk I've never had a problem with them, although some say that they have. Not in my experience.
www.cpucity.co.uk again personal service. When I bought a XP2500 recently the guy I spoke to actually went and opened a couple of boxes to check steppings.
www.theoverclockingstore.co.uk good service, free delivery, friendly

I have no doubt there will be some with bad experiences of any or all of these.

Need any more?

http://www.stak.com - Good firm in my opinion not really much on overclocking stuff but good for general hardware and they have some good deals on a sunday and 12-2pm.
I've only ordered with overclockers once but their service was excellent and very quick
http://www.dabs.com are good for general hardware too
If you are in the UK I'd recommend a mag called micro mart. Not too keen on the magazine itself but its mainly adverts from good companies so thts worth chekin out too
Hope this helps people
Steve

Thumbs up Whos the best for Components????????

Hi there everyone,

This is my first post on this forum I have search high and low on the net for good PC part suppliers and come accross good and bad. Below I've put down my Favourate and worst hope this helps anyone who wants to buy stuff online. Anyway here it goes:

BEST

1))) www.clixuk.com Clix Computers, nice site good prices but best of all for me is there customer and technical support top bunch of guys.
2))) www.ebuyer.com Ebuyer, good prices shame that trying to contact them is like getting blood out of a stone

WORST

1))) www.dabs.com These guys in my opinion are idiots and customer support isnt much better than Mc Donalds!!!!!!!
2))) www.microdirect.co.uk Again bad customer support & a AMD 2000 XP doesnt mean thats its rating is 2GHz IDIOTS I mean ther trying to run a company!!!

Avoid Dabs. If you get a faulty item then that's it, It's a battle trying to get them to take it back.

Oh and this is how to solve their cryptic stock count.

302 items in 2-3 days actually means;

2-3 items in 302 days.

Thank you for the information, one and all! More than a few of our Members live in Britain. Hate to see them rolling the dice and choosing a bad etailer, eyes wide shut.

www.skysolutions.co.uk

Two guys in Chingford who used to work in the City have recently started their online shop, items added pretty much every day. reasonable prices and amazing product support. Very knowledgable and will go the extra step to find stuff they have not even got in their range yet. Opening trade counter to the public in a couple of months just of the M25. Very worth a look if you want, what these days is awesome customer support. Oh and they answer the phones!

It helps to give reasons as to why you feel they are good or bad.

Have you ever had to return anything? If you have, what were your experiences? Often the buying part goes well, but the returns part is a whole 'nother story.

I've never had a problem with this. Thus far I've returned 4 items to dabs and it's been remarkably simple - log in, go to the relevant menu, select "return item", get RMA number, shove it in a box. One week later, check credit card and see that the money is refunded. Any time I've emailed them, a human has responded.

Agreed wrt the cryptic stock count. Never order anything unless it's already in stock. "Pending" means "never to arrive".

I had awful problems with dabs - they delivered an lcd screen and VESA mount to me. The mount was black when i'd ordered silver and the screen looked used as it had a couple of scratches on the surface.

Fair cop, i thought, everybody makes mistakes, sent them a request to have the items collected and replaced. No response after 2 days. Sent another request, still not response, 5 days now. So, i ended up having to go through their automated returns collection system (where you can get them to collect the items and have your money back, if requested within 14 days - distance selling act or something) as I didn't want to risk not getting my cash back.

Obviously, this meant that I had to pay for the courier to collect the items. Needless to say, i ended up buying the mount and screen from another company.

No telephone number & no replies to my requests for assistance = AVOID DABS
