Avoid the thousand pirate etailers.

While it isn't perfect, checking an etailer's reputation at www.resellerratings.com before buying anything from them is a must. Pricewatch first, www.resellerratings.com second. I've had no problems with retailers that rate 6.0 or above!

Bump.

Agreed. Resellerratings is an excellent resource. It helped me explain to a friend when he had problems with BZBoyz.com why he did.

My favorite though, is when someone says (and I quote a friend of mine saying this); "I've never had any problems buying from Pricewatch."

I just looked at him silently.

I thank ghod for resellerratings, it has actually stopped me from buying something, once from BZboy, who have a gluttony of horror stories

I will utter the words "I have never had a problem buying from Pricewatch vendors" for several reasons....

1 -- I usually just buy from Newegg once I see them listed for the item

2 -- I now check reseller ratings and don't buy from low scoring vendors (my base requirement is 5.5 depending on comments left).

I usually suppliment the above statement with explanation.

No, this guy thought he was buying stuff from Pricewatch themselves.

At least somewhat apropos to this thread: One of my favorite beefs with Anandtech is their "recommendations" of hardware etailers via their "weekly" price guides. Uhh... such recommendations I can live without. Oh well, I'll avoid my tirade about the site. Pithy, yes pithy it is.

With heaviest of hearts, it's my sad duty to post that ResellerRatings is no more. Woe unto us.

Pinky has posted a link that will get you to copies of RR's pages that are still mirrored on Google. They aren't functional, but remain most informative. Personally, I suggest getting over there now--before Google realises they are mirroring a dead site.

Please go to the: For What It's Worth Topic Heading, then "Still can view Resellerratings.com"
