Is the Duron spanking my XP?

I just put a new Duron 1.3 Ghz in my son's computer and it looks to be outfolding my computer with the XP1600+ running at 1.5 Ghz. I know these proteins are a little different but his looks twice as fast as mine. I started noticing a difference right after we put it in with the 'in water' proteins we both had but I thought it was too early to tell.

Here's a shot to look at.

no, I don't know how to do that. I'm using the graphic version of folding also if that matters.

No, you can use -forceasm on both graphical and console versions.

Check the properties for the shortcut to where you start the folding program, and add -forceasm to the destination, so it will look something like: "foldingconsole3.exe -forceasm" without the quotation marks. You may want to add -advmethods while you are at it, so it will be

blabla\winFAH.exe -advmethods -forceasm

Thanks for your help Allen. I tried it like you said but it didn't work for me. I'm probably doing something wrong. Here's a pic to show you what I did.

Thanks again for your help.

Try this:

"C:\Program Files\Folding@Home\winFAH.exe" -advmethods -forceasm

Thanks Big Red! That seems to work. Damn quotation marks.

I understand what the '-advmethods' is for but what does
'-forceasm' do?

-advmethods:
Tells the F@H client that you want advanced WU's (gromacs)

-forceasm:
Forces the F@H client to use the advanced processor features (SSE, SSE2). Sometimes -advmethods doesnt properly use those so you have to force it to. Gromacs is optomized to run best with those on.

I tried it both ways but it only worked when I did it like big red suggested. It's probably an winXP thing.

Its either because of the Graphic client quirk or because the 'Start In' feild has the " marks so it must have them in the target feild as well.

Yes Allan it does. In fact it's finishing a frame in just 16 minutes now.
Saturday night I unlocked the multiplier and now it's running at 1.6 Ghz also.
