boost of power coming

Ordered a motherboard and celey 850 from outpost for $99 today. Will be here soon. Will have it up with my other celey for a while until I sell the celey 667@832 . But from that sell I will get the money for the XP mobo I need so badly

Hey guys, anyone have a roster card? I can't keep track of this. Are people being traded or free agency or something?

Dave: what's the voltage of your XP@1575?

Shredding the WUs now(well sorda, its not an athlon), this 850 is running at 1.13 right out of the box at 1.86V. Only 30C load too . Hopefully i can adjust the voltage down later, but as the saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Great OC for a fresh chip. Those Celery chips sure do run cool. My stepson has one and he picks on me about the temps my Athlons run at.

Great to have you here folding again.

Now, if I can just get the money pulled together to get my XP in a MoBo and folding I can get some work done to.

Fold on !!!

I was thinking. If you were really, extremely cheap, couldn't you run F@H off the floppy drive? Compile the kernel in linux and put it on a floppy along with F@H and then boot onto the floppy.

Probably or even network boot. I think the client is a bit too big for a floppy though. I have 7 hd's most of which are in use but are very small and 1 floppy drive which is just sitting on the floor next to my system.

Instead of a floppy, how about CD ROM. Can you make a linux bootable CDROM? Can the text console run from DOS?

Yeah, Linux can boot off a CD-ROM. But then the problem would still be where does it put the work files. The network idea is the best. Use SMB to get run the Linux F@H program on that computer but store all the files on a different computer. Not a bad idea if I'm too cheap to buy a hard drive

Duh, ok, so it's not a good idea. I just checked my work folder, and it's over 800K. If a few WUs got backed up it would definitely be over 2megs. So a 1.4 floppy is definitely a bad idea.

Too bad I have no clue with linux, complete newbie. To get a network configured seems like a lot of learning to do (for me).
