F@H thoughts for the day...

Why is it that an 18 cu.m room heats up faster with just an XP2100 running than with an XP2100, an Athlon800 and a P266 all running? It doesn't make physical sense...

An XP2100+ @stock processes 1% of a P1039 protein in 6 minutes. An Athlon 800MHz processes 1% of a P1039 in 55 minutes. The two chips are 3 years apart, therefore under Moore's Law, only 2 doublings of processing power should've occurred. I.e. each % should take 15 minutes. Was Moore wrong?

Who is right? Fourier or Arctic Silver?

It's amazing how much heat a processor gives off.

It's also amazing that it's 75 degrees today (one week before Thanksgiving), in central Illinois.

Folding@home is just atypical, because it makes better use of the SSE instructions than most other programs do.. Try turning SSE off, and it wouldn't be folding nearly as fast.

Btw, my rigs heat up my room fairly well too!
