Problems with my Folding

Greetings all, i am the newest member to this forum and i have a small problem. I was recruited by Holst to Fold, and some of you may see that i am advancing up the ranks quite well, seeing as ive only been folding for 4 days.

Problem is that i would be even higher if my program ran more smoothly. Every now and again, after 3 or so WU's, or more depending how small the WU's are, I get stupid little messages at the bottom of the client screen alternating between 'Downloading new core:Core_65', 'Downloading core (uncompressed)' and 'Working'. I f i leave the computer folding overnight and this happens, then it goes on for hours and i have to re-install the program to get it working again.

I am on an Athlon1.4 using WinXP pro and running the client version of the program.

First thing, WELCOME!!

I had a prob with mine. Turns out I had to shut off the sleep timeres on my computer. (i.e. Hard drive shutdown.)

Also run the CONSOLE version of the software. It runs faster and alot fewer bugs.

Hope this helps.

Rob

PS.. SteveI will probably kill me for telling you this but, he's really good at the folding stuff. Way experianced at the folding. Ya may want to ask him if he dont' chime in here soon enough.

It should only download the core the first time the client runs.

Try out the beta version 2.17, get it here (console version):
http://folding.stanford.edu/beta/FAH2Console-v217.exe

and see if that helps. Let us know, ok?

I havent actually had the problem for a while now, i keep getting given nativeBBA5's and Build_ext's to do. I guess it was a problem with the GNRA hairpins. Anyway, ill continue on with what im using and if i another problem arises, i shall switch to the beta version and report back.

cheers.

I've been running the Beta 2.17 for a while now on a Win XP ssystem here and had 0 probs. It has proven to be the most trouble free of all to date in my opinion.

BTW....Welcome. Glad to have you in the fold.

I'm sorry to say that its started again. The graphical client V2.15 has gone weird again and no number of re-installs seems to be helping.
I have tried to use V2.17 the text only version (being the only version there is of it). But alas, the exact same problem occurs. I dont do anything to any of the files, nor the folders, it just all of a sudden acts up. It, for some reason just requires a download of core_65, which i dont get, cos its in the folder.

Hmm, i shall persist.

Gab.....Do the microsoft kill and get rid of everything concerning folding from your computer. EMPTY THE RECYCLE. Reboot. and re-install F@H in a new folder. In other words Fresh Start.

Sorry if you have already gone through the motions.

If this dosn't work you can always try sacrificing a chicken.

Sorry to hear that Gab.

Delete everything concering folding on your computer. The try out the NEW 2.19 beta, you can find it here:

http://folding.stanford.edu/beta/

See if it helps. There is both client and console versions. I like the console better, but its up to you. Heck, try both if the first doesn't do it for you.

Good luck!
