Can you run the program more than once on the same machine?

If I install the the program on the same machine more than once (in different folders) will it cause a conflict?

Anyone try this before?

Will

Thats how I run my machine.

As im on dialup I find it usefull to run several clients at the same time to reduce the number of times I have to get new work.

As im running 1700mhz XP some work units crunch pretty fast.

Over night I run four clients then during the day (and im online) I only run one.

I think runing more than two slows things down a bit but its hard to quantify anything.

You need to install into seperate directorys.

Bring up the folder in command prompt (cd\program files\folding@home)

Then to configure the client type "fah2console -local -config" that will ensure a seperate client ID and will stop you from getting identical work units.

Do that on each client and it will run fine.

Foldmonitor is usefull to keep track of whats going on. Download it at www.aoafiles.com.

Only the console (text) version is capable of running multiple instances. I run 2 on my XP for kicks, and 2 on my dual rig... 1 for each CPU.

If you are on broadband, always connected, there's really no need for 2 installs unless you are using a dual processor rig.

Me also. As I am on dialup

I have 2 working on the XP sys, and just 1 on the T-bird as it is our main using machine.

Thanx,
Thats good info. I haven't run the console version yet. I may try that on some of my dedicated machines.

My daughter likes the screen saver, so that is what I usually run.

The console version is a bit faster = more work units done in the same amount of time = faster stats climbing = more help to mankind = COOL!

LOL. Just run the graphical on one for your daughter, and go with console on the rest, hehe.
