Congratulations Guys. Well done.

Sorry Chris! Both of you Bard and Richards.

Gizmo: Would I be correct in guessing after looking at your avatar and your name. That the guy in your avatar is Gizmo, from Gremlins?

Gremlins was a bit before my time.

That's right. I'm just a harmless little fuzzball, unit you make me mad. Then I make all your electronics go haywire.

Actually, though, I used to go by the handle of Mr. Fixit back in the BBS and FidoNet days in the 80s, because I was always working on, fixing, and twiddling stuff (even while I was in the Army I would tinker). Then I met my wife in 1990, brought her over to the shop one day, she saw my bench and said 'Gizmo!'. The name just kindof stuck and I've been using it ever since. At this point I think it is safe to say that there are many more people in the world that know me as Gizmo than know me by my real name. LOL

At least your name sounds cool.

At school I get:
kid: "hey you, nerd, wanna fix my computer, it keeps coming with the error, that says something and then it freezes"
me: :\ "what sort of error?"
kid: "i dont know, im not a nerd, your the nerd, you should know!"

Seriously, how can one be expected to diagnose a error from that explanation.

Man, thats not too bad. At least you got named by a biped. I was named by my siamese cat, "Maithai". I was on DALnet IRC one day about 5 years ago, when I was changing my nick. I had already typed /nick and was thinking of what to type.

Then Maithai walked on my keyboard. Her left paw stood on the "D" and "S" keys, (look and you see they are right next to each other), and her right paw stood on the "I" and "O" keys. I had nothing better so I hit enter. People asked me to explain it, I told them what happened, and it stuck.

I later found that there was a story of a warlord type fellow in Ireland many many centuries ago that started killing people and taking land. After he had a nice little kingdom, he like his drink somewhat and died unfortunately after falling off a horse, blind drunk, and landing head first on a battleaxe. He had a traditional Irish name but because it was long and awkward it was shortened to D'sio.

Of all the ways to die, passing out drunk and falling off a horse, headbutting a battleaxe on the ground, has to be one of the manliest.

So the cat thought of it, but the Irish backed it up.

Really? Myself, and Chrisbard were talking about this, not an hour ago on MSN. So that is the mystery of "dsio" solved. Becuase we thought you name was Ash, and we were trying to work out how you get from Ash to dsio. And we came up empty handed.

My story is nowhere near as good as those two. My name is Ronnie. And in primary schoool. The other guys would take the first sylabol of you name and add an animal name to the end, and try different animals, until once sounded alright. I became Rondog. And it stuck, even now.

I've seen something similar except there was no horse and no-one died. Some damage to the house did occur, however. I don't recommend keeping battle-axes in your home - beer is fine!

Everyone has at least seen someone do that. Seasoned drinkers dont get drunk and throw up like in the movies, they keep going until they finally cant take any more and fall backwards off their barstools.

I had a similar problem earlier this year when I was playing pool after a few too many. I was lining up a shot for no real reason, as I couldnt really see the cue ball let alone where I was hitting it, and tangled my legs up and fell. On the way down I headbutted the wooden corner pocket and was out cold.

Next day I had to walk to lectures with stitches in my forehead, and every tom dick and harry has to ask how I got it. After the 5th person I said that I had recently had a phallus removed from there and that I was rather sensitive about the subject.

Honestly, if you have stitches in your forehead what else could it bloody be?

So I guess there is a little D'sio in me after all.

You're just lucky tradition was smart enough to stop playing pool with battleaxes a hundred years ago!
