go figure

well, it's a little ironic that 2 folding rigs would suffer the failure of the
on-board nic. crazy thing is it happened within 3 hours on the same day.
1 ASRock and my 8K5A2+. the 'Rock only 5 months old, the Epox, 5 years.
put a pci nic on the 'rock to get the wu sent and a new one. now to put
it on the Epox. I'll get another nic tomarrow on my way home from work.
I hate hardware failure when it gets in the way of my Folding!

Red face

Smells like hardware failure due to outside sources !!! You can burn the new nics as well. Our ISP (at work) had some issues with unearthed and poor quality cables streched between buildings and each week we had to change a smoked nic :\

I gotta side with Chris here...you should make sure your router/switch isn't screwy. Have a user who killed 3 Shuttles from the same effect...power surge over the Cat5 took out network controller on each, and on the last one smoked the southbridge as well.

I am in the process of procuring a new Linksys 16 port switch from newegg.
one of the switches has issues on 2 or 3 ports and silly me used the same
'bad' port on both boards. can't wait to smash that one. the Netgear is in
good shape on all 5 ports. I don't need a 16 port but it almost the same
price as an 8 port and I can expand the farm too!!!
