Of course none of those cards can FAH, but all were/are used at o/c speeds.
You mileage may vary, of course. However, Cad is essentially right. The reason the unit carries a one year warranty is because those boards have been life-tested (life testing usually consists of operating at maximum temperatures and voltages until they fail; there are statistical formulae used to determine how these things behave based on years and years of empirical data gathered from device failure analysis so that once you have done the life testing you can predict how long the device will operate under 'normal conditions'). Companies design products to last AT LEAST long enough to get past the warranty period. If a product fails within the warranty period, it costs the company money, so there is a great deal of incentive to ensure that it lives through the warranty.

Generally, not only is there no incentive to design a product that functions well past the past the warranty (often referred to as a 'quality' product), but there is actually substantial incentive to design the product to fail at roughly 150% of the warranty period. That's how companies get you to buy new products. It's also how they keep costs of existing products down.

It IS POSSIBLE to design electronic circuits that will work a very long time; I personally have some designs that have been running for 20 years without any maintenance. It isn't easy or cheap, but it CAN be done; most people aren't willing to pay for it, though.

Probably all true, Giz, but I hope this card lasts more than a year. Not so much for my sake but for whomever gets it after I'm done with it, (my current roomie?).

I've got a 1976 vintage Marantz receiver that's still going strong, has only needed the front panel lights replaced and a slight tuner alignment. That's "quality product".

gpu folding is still producing lots of EUE's for me, cat 7.3 if anything has made it worse

I've had maybe 2 or 3 EUE's AFAIK, but I've only been GPU folding for a few weeks. Still using Cat 7.2.

some days it will work fine, and others it'll just throw a hissy fit and reject the units almost straight off, the smp core is similar in that its hit / mis getting it running
