Ahh, now it is clear. You copied an install folder from another machine? I didn't know that.

If you do this, and you delete the work file in order to download a new WU [and maybe the core file as well], you MUST DELETE THE QUEUE.DAT FILE AS WELL. You probably missed this in an earlier post. The queue file contains information unique to the WU [and the machine ID I think], and it won't work properly in the way you wanted it to.

I'm more interested in why your downloads of the installer were corrupt. I'm still shaking my head over that one.

Definitely are not the files. Having problems downloading some drivers from AOA files. Try twice to download "Ultimate Boot CD" and fail at 29% and 62%. Don't know what's going on, but I'll keep working on it.

Please, don't say that. Gonna try download FEAR update. Yes, I know is an old game but I'm playing it again. Is quite large, I think.

Not an old game. I still kick it around. Let us know how it goes. If it does not work, try a windows repair.

Hmm...the folding-community website is down with all kinds of SQL errors on the page.

Looks suspiciously like it's been hacked. There have been a lot of malicious hits on it recently according to the cops there, mebbe one got through. Wonder if it has anything to do with this...

Has anyone out there got a new wu 2653 Run 1, Clone 84, Gen 23?

I've had problems on 3 different machines in the last few days with this one. No idea as yet if it's a known bad wu but I'll keep you all informed if I find out.

I'm closing up shop for about 3 days for a well-deserved holiday. My production will halt while I'm away, but I'll check in here each day while I'm gone to help with client problems if anyone has any.

OK SW;

I have no experience with Vista, so I don't have answers in my back pocket, but there are documented problems as well as work-arounds. Try this first:

How do I install the SMP Console client in Windows Vista? - FaHWiki

then this thread if you're unsuccessful:

Folding-community.org :: View topic - Vista SMP Core fails to execute and reloads
