It's not looking good right now. My teeth are grinding waiting for my boxen to kick in. Stats pages here:

Chimp Challenge 2008

Chimp Challenge Team List - EXTREME Overclocking Folding @ Home Stats

@Warrior: Have 9 duals running now; should get 6 more machines running tomorrow.

@Gedon: I'm quite sure these guys were all clever enuff from past experience to hold back a completed WU or two from upping, then start the machines at noon to up the back WUs at the start of the session. We could have done the same but we prolly weren't thinking about it...my bad...

Slap one of your race engines on that quad core to see if you can make it go faster.....

LOL. I'm just glad I moved to a 45nm Q9450, dropped the temps in my computer room by 10 degrees, I tried to get another quad going before the deal started but there just wasn't enough time for me to locate a PSU and a cooler to complete the rig.

I've been lurking a bit over at the ocforums.

Now, I don't know those guys from Adam, and there is no insult intended, but I will say this.

I will never leave this team. You guys are the best. You are all knowledgeable and more importantly, you're FUN.

And pound for pound, I'd put our group up against anyone. I mean, we're good for say, 30-35k per day, and we're a small group of 50 active folders. Those 7eetfalzers are doing 1.1 MILLION-and they are 3rd best-with 600 active folders.

Maybe we should design a competition where the smaller teams can directly compete with the big dogs. Perhaps something with a specific number of boxen-or better yet, cores. Don't have any idea how to control it-but we'd see who can get the most out of the hardware. Worth thinking about?

@Warrior: 15 machines on the case now. WUs started to turn this morning, so expect a little boost in your average. May be able to add a few more but not til Saturday.

I have been reading there also. I am somewhat concerned that we have given so much of what we have. They are huge and only a minute percentage has stepped up.

We have two types of Folders there.

Active Forum Folders and non active Folders.

People who spend the time and actually Post.
and people who set it up once upon a time and forgot about it.

Well, and the 3rd, who aren't Team players at all and don't bother with Competitions of any sort, are just slugs. .

I hate to say.

Thank you for ALL that you guys have put in so far.

10,000 times what I would have expected.

-Chuck

Sam, I saw your post there and I also share your concern... It's not the points; we can always make more of those. It's not whether OCF wins or loses; it's just a charitable event, after all.

I have looked at the trend numbers for the top 20 over there. It is clear to see that many, without doubt, have switched all their rigs over (or a significant number of their rigs). I salute them, because some have been working hard at this and the numbers show it. But...well, take a look yourselves and you will see. It could be the difference in the race.

And I don't really subscribe to the idea that because guys are working they *can't* contribute. We all work; you do, I do, and all our teammates do.

Sorry I'm late to the party. I've got a couple machines I can switch over. I'd do more, but the remainder are all PIII's and the like, and well, it'd be a week before they'd kick out a WU.
