| Tell me what version he's using. The new beta 5.92 DOES NOT SUPPORT 64-bit. If he's using another version post back in our SMP thread and I'll see if I can help. I'd like to see the logfile, though.

| For some reason you did not get correct admin rights to properly install. Did you install dotnet through the admin account? Have you ever had f@h running on this machine before? In Vista, this would be controlled through the UAR (User Acess Rights) applet in control panel, but you don't run Vista. Do you have something like that in your OS? I'm not familiar enough with it to be able to help you more than that, but I'm quite certain you have a permissions problem. Just for laughs, try going to your fah directory and type smpd -install. What is the output of that command? I'll be out for a few hours but I'll check back around 0800 EST (it's 3.20 PM here)

| I found this thread on the fcf: Folding Forum • View topic - Vista64 Install Problem try reading it over while I'm out. It *might* be helpful, even though this guy has Vista for OS. There's also a vista setup procedure on the FAHWiki, I don't have the url handy but you could search for it. It may be very similar to your XP 64 EDIT: Here it is: How do I install the SMP Console client in Windows Vista? - FaHWiki

| I have another question about SMP. is it currently a 64bit only program. that 5.92Beta was an upgrade to 5.91Beta I need 5.91 installed to get 5.92 to work. if only 64bit then I'm out of luck. I read there was to be a 32bit full install out soon. I will have a serious go with SMP 32bit until things are sorted out around Linux and 64bit OS. Ron |

| I'm not sure what your concern is. 5.91 and 5.92 both support 32-bit. 5.92 DOES NOT support 64-bit. Run the 5.91 installer. DON'T RUN install.bat. Then unzip the 5.92 beta into the directory. Now, run install.bat. Check out the information threads I posted in my announcement of the new beta in our SMP thread. It's dead easy. And it is more stable by far, immune to network changes-I installed it on my laptop, ran a WU, and pulled out the network cable. It gave an error 63 and then magically recovered, starting up again after a few seconds. I'm still trying to break it but haven't been successful. Runs like a charm so far. When I get home later this week it's going on all of my other machines. And I'll write up a walkthrough to install it next week as soon as I have time.

| an update, following directions, I ran 5.91. it setup the folder into which I unzipped 5.92. ran install.bat and the best I can say is that it did not install in the manor described for 5.91. I am running XPHome on 4 boxen and 2KPro on 2 others. have only tried it on 2 XP boxen so far. I uninstalled everything and will try again when I get home from work. more details later as well. Ron |

| Ron: I'm in the process of answering you in the SMP thread- that way it's available to all with similar problems. Go take a look and let's carry on the discussion there. EDIT: Finished. Link to post here: Smp
