We spice 'em up, roll 'em up, and bake them in the SMP oven!

Many OCF'ers fold almost nothing but SMP WU's. For example, I have 5 rigs, but they're all either C2D's or Quads, and fold nothing else but SMP type WU's.

Awesome difference in points per day.

I have two C2Ds running SMP. I do see the diff. Is there something special to tweak to get more?

They are at #3 in the top 20....sweet....

Thanks all.

I just installed a Dual core CPU into my system. Should I try an SMP Folding version?

Robbie- where have you been the last year?????

Most of us have all been using the SMP client for a long time now. We have a thread dedicated to running, maintaining and troubleshooting it:

Robbie you should be using it. If you need any help just post in that thread and someone will answer. Soon there will be a tutorial on installing the new beta. In a few days I'll have time to write it up.

Thanks all.
It's hard to say Sam.
New WU's cam out from Stanford and are a bit bigger, but worth more too.
I've seen some worth 2,100 points each.
Up from the 1760 points.

Cost per Ghz per Folding Point.... dollar for dollar, SMP either C2D or Quad, is the way to go. especially when it comes to electricity bills.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, we oc the snot outta them too.
on average a C2D should run 3.0+ for best PPD.

Robbie, you should only try SMP if you want 4 to 10 times as many points per day.

The caution is that SMP WU's have a very short deadline - typically 3 or 4 days. So your system must be on enough hours, and be unfettered by things like screensavers, running SETI, etc., in order to complete the WU before the deadline.

There were 2500 point WUs ,too, but I haven't seen them in awhile.

@Robbie: read the thread I gave you. most of what you need to know is there, and if you need more I have other sources. Let me know.
