Our average is up...

Trend line is showing our average is steadily growing, way up from this time last year. We have a few teams in our sights now, so that's good. Bad news is, everyone else's average is up, too, and there are a few teams on our heels as well.

Let's see if we can squeeze our boxen a bit more-and for you guys running the standard client, I'm pretty sure you have multi-core machines, so get on the SMP client instead. We can help get you started. Deadlines are 6 days now, not the 3 days we used to get, so there aren't any more deadline excuses

With longer deadlines you don't have to worry about missing them. 6 days is enough time for most any dual-core to finish a work unit running only 8 hours a day, so take a little time, do your reading, and post in the SMP thread if you need help...

Got an 8800 or higher Nvidia card or an X2xxx or higher ATI card? You will do about 2-3 WUs in an 8 hour period, and the points are at bonus levels.

Install guides are here:

I'm still having a problem with this dual core lappy. Now it's getting a new WU every time I reboot (which is pretty much every day, since I travel between home and the office with it).

I think something's gone screwy with my install, though, because this thing has just started doing some weird stuff all the way around.

IIRC this is a linux machine that you had upload/download problems with several weeks ago.

Is this linux machine on SMP, or the standard client(s)?

It's on the SMP client.

I removed the daemon, completely wiped the directory, deleted the user, and started over from scratch, using the instructions contained here: Folding@home - LinSMPGuide

So far, it seems to be working correctly.

Out of 33 people, is it possible that only 7 really have a cuda enabled video card?

I have access to a radeon X1300PRO or the UMA graphics on a MSI Wind U100, if either of them fold on the GPU client, I would be more than happy to start.

Don't think either of those would work, your 8600gt could get some PPD, but not much as I think that's only a 32shader card.

Cheapest option right now is the 9600GSO I think, with 96 shaders. average around 3200-3500 PPD

I may take the GSO to my in-laws and install it in their pc rather than waiting to find another pc

Should be easier now as they say the new core allows you to mix graphics cards now, no more multiples of 32 or bust.

Just got a laptop with an i7 quad core and Radeon 4830 graphics. It has been added to the fold, but due to heat and electricity bills, it won't be running at 100% nor 24/7. It should help a bit though.

Everything helps. With a quad you don't have to run all day to see results

just sold the 939 dual core to a friend. they're on dial-up and won't be folding it. the 2 9800GSO are actually 1-9600GSO. 1-9600GT. going to be replacing the other duals with Quads one at a timeit's all good
