just finished my first mod

i had two 120mm fan setting around for awhile not knowing what to do with them. I had bought them to put in front intake and exhaust. Then i realized that my case would need alot of work to get in to fit in the front because the case was made for an 80mm fan with the vent and it didnt ever have screw holes it use latches of some kind. so with that almost undoable for a first time modder i didnt know what to do. so i followed instructions for here and made a top blow hole fan. everthing worked perfectly. i had another 120mm fan so I drilled that in the floor from the bottom. So now my fan setup is as follows 80front and side intake, 120mm rear exhaust and top exhaust and a 120mm bottom case blowing up. my temps have dropped like 6-7 degrees from this. so all is well. since i didnt know what i was gettin myself into at first the cuting might be a little sloppy but i will fix that when ever i get a fan grill so no one cuts off a finger. hopefuly i will have a camera some time soon to take a pic.

Bonesaw sounds great don't worry about looks you should see my work but the temps dropping that is what the main thing is about. looks can always be fixed one day maybe

Well done on your first mod there bonesaw Just hope that you put a filter on the bottom fan to stop it sucking in any detritus under your case

Other than that, would love to see some pics posted up ....wish you had the camera when you started so you can do before, between & after shots.

i didn't cut a hole in the bottom. never really thought of that fan as being important but now i think that the fan having no where to pul air from is making some sort of vacume or something. i am about to order some stuff for xoxide.com today and i guess i will cut that hole in the bottom and add a filter to my order. thanks

You want to balance your intake and out put, creating as much turbulence as you can in the process when cooling the case as a whole. If your filtering out dirt you want your filtered inputs to shove a bit more in than you out put fans can handle, this REALLY helps keep a case clean as it blows air OUT though the craks rather than sucking dust and air in.

i just did this mod to my friends computer and i took all the temps from everest and the bios before and after but there was no temperature change only 1 or 2 degrees. the only thing he had was a 80mm rear exhaust and a cpu and psu fan, the cpu fan one of those vent things built into the case side. i put in a 120mm fan right under that mainly for the gfx card and a top 120mm exhaust. but not much temp drops ?

all i remember is all the temps were the same after like a half-hour. i'll get his specs and everything in tomarrow. it was a disappointment is all i remember

i just pick the filter in on the bottom over the hole i cut. now i just need a way to raise the whole tower a little bit to get better intake from under the case.
