Network send failure

OK, I left F@H running p145_1L2Yunf today, I got back and it was only at 43% and wanting to send the results. After connecting, it gave a 'Network send failure' error message. Should I just uninstall F@H and delete the directory or what?

Leave it alone. Most likely, you have a WU in your work folder that's not sending correctly. Use the -sendall switch to manually send the unsent WU.

You don't have to do a thing. I was having problems sending WUs last night. I checked my machine this morning, and I had about 4-5 WUs stacked up over a few machines. Don't worry, F@H will keep trying to send... Seems one of their servers is acting up again.

Yeah, but do you get points if they are late because of a network send issue, even though it was on stanford's end?

Yes, quote from the site:

Are there any limits to how long my machine can take to finish a work unit (WU)?

Yes. Depending on the work unit, unfinished work units for most projects "expire" and are reassigned to new machines. Since new WUs are generated by finishing old ones, we must keep things moving along by expiring units. As we move to longer WUs we will extend this time as needed. For instance, for the villin molecule we are currently using the expiration time of 3days. Some expiration times are shorter. You will get stats credit for all units that you complete, even if they have expired, but they will not be as useful scientifically.

The easy way is to shut it down, and restart it. As it opens, it will automatically attempt to send any queued WUs.
If you add the flag '-sendall', it tries to force the connection with the server.
