| Glad if my (petty) contribution helps. I have a question: I will be going away for a couple of weeks, and consider leaving my computer folding as usual. However I have a slight problem - my ISP shuts down my connection once every 24h, giving me a new Ip (I´m on DSL) and this sometimes resaults in some kind of network problems, meaning my folding is halted as it can´t download a new WU or transmit the old data. I would hate for this to happen the first day if I am away for more than a week (leaving the computer doing nothing). 1 Is it possible to download several WUs at the same time (preferably ones with a deadline of 14 days or more)? 2. Is it possible to ask F@H to cut the internet connection after it is done up- and downloading data (this would also solve my problem) 3. A bad solution really, but possibly a working one - is it possible to schedule restarts of the computer every 24h or so? Or do you have a better solution? System is Athlon XP@185x11,5 on a 8RDA+ running XP home edition I currently use the graphical client, but wouldn´t mind changing to the console one if that would help |

| Firstly I didn´t mean "petty". My sense of language has been a bit messy since I moved to germany. I meant Modest. Quote:

| Yan, forgive me if I sounded harsh. I wasn't using my language skills very well. the 'Power on by Alarm' function will not have any effect if the computer is already running. if a shut- down/restart works to reset the connection (IP) and solve the network(ing) problem. then you can set the alarm to shutdown (I think?) and restart. if the problem is due to your ISP changing the IP add every 24h or once a day. if your ISP changes the IP add. when you have been connected for 24h, then you could use Task Scheduler to open then close the connection. I am not sure this will work with the "always on" conn. I must learn more about this DSL/ISP stuff. Dod, tell us how to dl a bunch of wu's, please. Ron |

Just set up a bunch of folders, call them fah1, fah2 and so on. Download a new console client into each. Start it up and let it run. Each will download their own new WU. When you're going through the initial setup it asks if you want to change the default settings. Enter "yes" and change the machine number, 1 to 8 to match each folder, and that gives you 8 different WU's. I think I saw a method described somewhere where you could actually do more but I didn't bookmark it. |

| thanks Allan, dod. could you put this info in the faq for future ref. it seems to answer one multiple wu question. my guess is that eavry instance or wu is worked on at the same time. this would slow things down but if the deadline is met wouldn't be a prob. I haven't had the need to run more than one at a time. now that I know how to make it work!?! Ron |
