more on new points

I just got back from my business trip and checked EM.
1 of my machines died, so that is killing my production. I think the KV7 went bad, but I won't have time to rip it out and check into it for at least a week.

I noticed 2 of my machines are folding new tinkers... THe points are amazing based off of P4s. Production is excellent.

On a barton @2.33 and tbred @2.38,
128points taking 31hours and 237 points taking 29 hours!!!

DOH!!!
This is how out of it I am... I just realized. The machine that when down was running a barton at 2.3ghz. It's locked, or else I should swap to another machine... I don't have enough high speed memory.

my laptop is doing a tinker and has been for a while now, lets hope it gets a good score (i havent checked what it will get yet) performance will slump a little as all 3 folders are on big units, (98,135 and the tinker)

I know what you mean... I almost had a cow when I noticed my production yesterday was only 180 points. I had to doublecheck my machines to make sure they were working.

I got em3 to work out how many points the tinker is worth and it reckons 128 points. So that makes 361 points worth of units on the go :-) all finishing in the next day or two. :-)

So they made the tinkers just as valuable as gromacs?
But isnt that a bad idea if they get more ressearch done with the gromacs?

Your right Ebbe.
The reality is, there are tons of kids folding more for score and community bragging rights. The people folding purely for the cause won't quit based on points changes... just get a little annoyed.

On the other hand, those folding for points and bragging rights will be much more likely to quit, or mess with things to get what they want. I know of some who delete tinkers wus whenever they get spotted.

Pande group is performing a necessary evil for the good of the project.
