Advanced Flags

Right this may be being stupid but can some one give me an "Idiots Guide To Advanced Flags" (namely how to enable them) ive been reading and it says it significantly increase speed of WUs, which is always good! i am using the gui V4.0 version in windows Home.

i dont think flags can be used in the GUI version.

Just download the console client and drop it into your FAH directory, I believe.

As for the flags, you have two options. You can use EM3, which will launch the client for you and pass any flags you specify as part of EM3's setup, or you can launch the client directly from a batch file or the startup menu. Just pass the flags right on the command line. For example:

fah4console -advmethods -forceSSE

Ie. destination field could look like this on an XP CPU:
C:\Program Files\Folding@home\FAH4Console.exe -forceSSE -advmethods


Now, did I just completely miss the whole thrust of your question? I'm thinking I did, so would you mind asking it again?

If i can i would like to use the gui client, and activate the flags. no change to the client is needed, i just want to know how to change the client to run the flags...any better?

GUI = non console version right? if so, thats what i meant, im using flags too.

dosent "-forceasm" force 3dnow instructions, which P4s dont have?

A: AMD CPU's fold quite a bit faster than equivalent intel Pentium 4 processors. Your best bet is to get a fast Athlon XP CPU

LOL Don't worry about it

Okay you already have the GUI set up and working I assume. Go to the folder where you store it and right click it and send to desktop.

Go to the desktop and right click the new icon and select properties.

In the target field you should have something like "c:\FAH3\FAH3Console.exe" without the inverted commas.

In target field put in the following exactly

C:\FAH3\FAH3Console.exe -advmethods -forceSSE

That should do it, if not post back

If your F@H starts at windows start-up you will need to find the icon in the start-up menu and right-click on it, then choose properties.

i just got the non-gui console version, and just copied it to my startup folder, and it boots, and i removed the gui version out of the startup, and it loads the console on boot.
