I can see why they recomend Quad cpu's it runs 4 instances of the thing, still just over 10mins per % on unit 2652, no idea how much that scores.

Tip : shut down smp client and make sure all cores have disengaged before rebooting else you run the risk of dumping a 80% completed 1700pt wu in the bin!

Yup....
Lost about 3K in points this week that way. About 5 units lost as I figure out these things... with 4 threads running, shutting down is hazardous for Wu in progress. Best to use CTL+C and wait a few seconds before shutting down a rig. Still no guarantee.

Up and running this. I wonder if the speed will net some spiffy points.

Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that when an SMP WU is lost or damaged, there is no credit of any kind. Core is very buggy.

I have discovered this myself. I went back to the dual client. Maybe after an update this will work better.

I expect that to be the case. This beta has a 2 month window, and is set to expire. Odds are they are aware of most bugs and are working to fix them. By setting the expiration date, only machines that are monitored will get this build.

Points wise, i think it is worth it. My production is doubled with less than 1/2 getting the new core. While highly cache dependent, the boost is about 250% - 400%. Having 2m or more per core nets the highest gains.

Those with 512k like AMD x2's get the least boost, while core2duos are the other extreme, benefiting from both increased cache and improved core architecture.
