Fah-smp Alert!!!

The current Windows SMP core will expire on June 30th. To update, go to the FAH download page and get the new install.

For an easier way to replace files, read up:
http://forum.folding-community.org/ftopic20376.html

Only 2 files are updated, fah.exe and UILANG1.UDB .
You can stop folding, install to a new location and copy over the 2 files, and then restart the core. Everything should work fine.

If you prefer to let the executable run its course, you will have to remove any FAH link in start up, reboot, install the new core, then rerun install.

Either method should be able to pick up the WU and keep going. I've tested on 2 machines tonight. Will update the rest tomorrow.

Nope...
There are tons of bugs they were trying to fix, but I guess they haven't adequately tested yet. The new exe is simply a change in expiration dates. Hopefully, the fixes will come soon. I've lost over 20k points so far due to bugs alone.

yeah definutly only the once.

Only if you have more than 5 or more cores in a single box will you need to copies of the smp core installed, and im not sure that you can actually do that! If only the intel v8 was affordable!

Fold on

I had a few problems with this again last night. After I go the password thing worked out, it still will not start as a service. I removed the service for the FAH first. I just start the console and it works. I will play with it more tonight.

It still shares many common traits with the normal console client after all it is 'beta' and well just a tad hobbled together.
I'd keep it in full view as it is a little temprimental at times so its worth keeping an eye on it.

In one word yes, but only with core 2 duo's, the prefered cpu is a core 2 quad.
X2's just dont have a) the right type of cache or b) enough of it.

For those that are running it / thinking of running it, think of it as a high maintenence girl/boyfriend. Constantly needs attention but is well worth it!
