Mem speed effect on SMP core

Hi All
Does anyone know what effect memory speed has on folding at home, specifically the SMP core client?
I have 2 duff Corsair 3200 modules that only do 160Mhz and as the machine only runs F@H SMP
I was wondering if replacing them with DDR500 would have a positive impact on folding speed?
Ta 4 any info

As far as I know, the impact should be negligible. Maybe slightly more if there is little cache, in theory.... If the DDR500 is more total memory, it could be noticeable.

Clear as mud...

Ta for the reply SteveI

Was going to get Ballistix PC4000 but am not sure if 2GB mem at 3200 may be a better bet than 1GB of 4000.
As the rigs are folding SMP maybe more might be better than faster

In general, 2gigs are definitely better than 1.

Specific to folding, I suspect the faster memory speed would be outweighed by the overall benefits of the just having more memory. Is the rig a dedicated folder?

Hi SteveI

Yes.My main rig has 2gb but the other 4 which do nothing but fold only have 1gb each.
They all run the SMP client(Or will do when they are all up and running)

Ta for the inf
