Is there a way to stop and start the client at a certain time?

Help me figure this out...

I have a lab of 30 machines that after 6pm go dormant until 6am. They are left on and IF I have a way to start folding after 6pm and stop it at 6am, our team will greatly benefit!

Any ideas?

Install the folding client as a service.

Then schedule a task to run at 6 a.m and 6 p.m. (or whatever time you choose).

Have the task start the service at 6 p.m. and stop it at 6 a.m.

The name of the service is kinda funky, and I think it may vary depending on where you have it installed, so you'll have to check the services control panel for the service name to use. However, starting and stopping it is very easy once you have the name:

To start:
Code:
net start "FAH@F:+Program Files+folding@home+fah504-console"
To stop:
Code:
net stop "FAH@F:+Program Files+folding@home+fah504-console"
(On my computer, Folding@Home lives at F:\Program Files\folding@home\fah504-console', hence the service name.)

To set up a task, use AT, like this:

Code:
at 6:00 /every:m,t,w,th,f,s,su net start "FAH@F:+Program Files+folding@home+fah504-console"
The time is specified in 24-hour format. You can also use the Task Scheduler GUI tool in WinXP if you prefer.

That should do what you want. Oh, and set the folding service to manual start rather than auto start, that way if a computer gets rebooted during the day, it won't automatically start the service as well.

I was in place for an overtake on the spyder, my crash and his recent output is going to make it a little tougher. When he gets those 30 going it will be over..

Now that everything on my end has settled down, and I found a little more OC in my quad it's burning through the WU's at 5K points per day.

lol.

How do you have your quad setup?
Its taking almost 24 hours to crunch a single 500,000 work unit
