Wrong! Agian :)

I finially got what I've been working at for 6 maybe 8 months. Another rig up that will just be a folder-and a Linux trainer for me. I've installed Mint 7 and went to get the clients for folding. The learning curve is going to be bigger than I thought.....
The hoops that a person has to go through just to get the GPU client running will take me to much time-So I'm going to bail and install Windows so I can it folding-I did't realize. and I just can't afford the time to that right now.

Unless I've missed something, there is no GPU client for Linux yet. Only SMP.

There has been some success running the client in WINE emulation under Linux...but I've not tried it. I'll wait for the native client in the works.

Ya, I went first for the GPU client and that is exactly what i discovered-It's just to much to try.
So I'll do what i should have done in the first place-Install Windows and both clients and let it run. Simple.

It's cranking out 6k PPD with no fuss which is more than i can say for my main rig. The SMP client is acting up so I don't have it running right now-I'll fix it later.
I still think Mint 7 is going to work for me-just not now. All together to much on my plate.

Your right, Daniel. but for the wrong reasons. Mighty Bill said that MS is getting out of the OS business. He see's nothing ahead for the OS as we know it.

I guess what I mean is I look at linux the same way I look at an 80s/90s 5 series. the 5er is a complicated piece of engineering but you can work on it, it all makes sense, and if you have the service manual handy you can tear it down and put it back together with relative ease, and if something fails, there are a finite number of things it can be, all of which are easy to track down and eliminate.

The new 5 series, to me at least is a giant "black box" under the bonnet and the electrical system is the same. I don't understand variable valve timing systems and fly by wire throttle control. Solid lifters and a cable on the other hand, that's not a problem.

I just honestly don't know where Vista's guts are, how they work, or how to play with them.

I was just starting to get a little understanding of Mandrake 10 or so years back when catastrophe hit my life once again. Now it's Greek to me without the basic knowledge.
One day-soon I hope-I'm going to install Mint 7 as my chief OS and no dual boot-sink or swim. Learn it by having to do so.
