Cost $$$ for running a folding sys?

Does anyone one know of a way to figure what it would cost to run JUST a folding rig?

CPU, VC,HD,mobo,HSF,Nic/or mobo w/nic.

I know what my kWh per hr charge is.

I need to know that also... Maybe then I can convince my dad that there is a reason to leave on all the computers in the house, 24/7

I think it may be best that this question is left unanswered.

Any decent rig is going to use over 100W when just folding, some rigs may even use as much as 200W . . .

So what you are saying translated into layman's terms is that it costs the same as running a 100w bulb 24/7. I know people who do that out of paranoia of someone breaking in their home. What is even worse is the people who leave the TV on for their pets. I personally think F@H is a much more worthwhile cause than a dog being able to watch the Soaps every day.

Now I've done it....... How many of you leave the TV running for your pets when you are gone? :nervous:

With 4 machines running 24/7 in my home, I noticed about a $10 increase in my electricity bill from when they weren't running 24/7. It's not very scientific, but those are the results I got.

The reason is I wanted to see if I could justify the $$ for another sys.

I love this So Cal Edison-SOB's, Summer allocation per day for a KWh is 15.4, we are using 55.27 KWh per day.

Then the bull$h!t, 101%-300% over baseline is where we get killed.

I won't say anymore about them as it might be taken as a terrorist threat.

I like the letter "C" & the # "4" hehe.

86octane is $1.11 over here... sorry :-D

i've been trying to figure out how to hack a sort of plug extender "thingy" (like an extension cord without a cord at all- just a male and a female plug in one molded bit of plastic) into an ammeter probe.... i cant figure out how to cut the electrical path though... (and i dont have an ammeter that can handle that many amps)

also remeber when your figuring it out mathematically you have to account for the cpu being a different voltage than the mains (so the wattage isnt the same) and the (in)effiency of the psu

my electric bill $UX!

Elf if you have access to an clamp style ammeter you slit the jacket on the extender and pull one of the wires out of the bundle, not exposing the copper and clamp the meter around the wire.
