XP SP2 implemented pool header validation. When it finds pool header corruption, it stops with a BAD_POOL_HEADER BSOD. This is what will happen with Window 7. Thus, a successful attempt to manipulate pool memory will result in a bluescreen. I suppose at least it's taken an exploit and turned it into a denial of service. I'd rather not have either though.
