AutoCAD 2008 running slow

I built a new computer at work and decided to try Windows 7.
The programs I use on a daily basis are:
1. AutoCAD 2008
2. Google Sketchup
3. Remote Desktop
4. Outlook 2003

And some old scanners (Canon)

Everything seems to be running great except AutoCAD.
Ironicly it slows down when entering commands and using 2D raster images.
CAD normally slows down with raster images, but not this bad.

Its a pretty fast machine too, so I didn't expect CAD to slow down but instead to be twice as fast... at least.
It handles 3D beautifully, by the way...

I wonder if there are some services/process in the background that may affect CAD performance, or at least improve it.

wow, I forgot about this post. I don't even work at that job anymore, but I still wonder why it was running a bit slow with such a fast computer
