I have gamed on Windows 8 and its the same as windows 7. The gui in windows 8 has changed a bit. File transfer has a speed graph. A few other things have changed but I just derailed my train of thought and will be back on this.....

I havn't tried any games yet, but all of my legacy programs work just fine as they do with Windows 7. Like Adobe CS 2.0 Suite

By the way, over the weekend I install the original Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator in Windows 7 to see if it worked... and... here it comes...
It WORKED!

Imagine that, a game from the late 90's and still runs in the modern operating system

My only question is "Are you going to fly a 747 in to any buildings?"

/end sarcasm

That is awesome. I actually had Windows 8 play AvP 1 which would not run on my old W7 box.

I also had it running Planescapes Torment. Awesome game btw....

Dude I can't wait to watch a youtube video of you playing Crysis 3 Chrisbard!

Wait, better idea...
I can record videos on my Windows machine playing games and then watch them on my Linux machine and pretend I'm playing!

Yeah, but you don't need W8 to do that.

It's *really* hard to get enthused about Win8 when Win7 is as good as it is. This I cannot deny. I have to say that it can't get too much better than this.

well...it could be free...

Just think! Someday there will be DirectX 11 games that will let you do what DirectX 9 will let you do today...

This is all but meaningless for the same reason that PS4 and the newest from Xbox is meaning less...

There is no difference that doesn't MAKE a difference... Tell gamers where DirectX 11 or DX 10 for that matter makes a difference?

This is what I'm trying to say:

I think it can be a lot of fun if you get a surface, not sure though. Will try one and see if it suits me. But yeah windows 7 is good enough for gaming.

I just installed Win 8 on one of my gaming machines and will start installing all of my LAN games on it.
From what I've read online, Win 8 has some new optmizations to make it even faster than Win 7, but I won't know until I start playing some games.

This machine is decent, so we'll see what Win 8 can do!

Specs:
EVGA motherboard
core2duo
2 Gig RAM
GeForce 9800 GS (in SLI)
21" HD monitor (1920x1080)

So were back to Peanut butter and jammy fingers on my monitor? No thank you, hard enough to keep my keyboard clean...

Also I think I'd find it annoying to have someones hands blocking my view of my monitor....even if those hands are my own...":O}
