SMP Production

My #2 rig, with a core 2 duo 8400 and Mint 7 x64, is producing a SMP segment in 13 minutes.
My #1 rig, with Windows 7 x64 and a Phenom x4 9650, is producing a SMP segment in 23 minutes.
Linux is sure kicking butt!

EDIT:
Now, if I just had the cajones to make my #1 a linux rig!

I still think there is something wrong with your SMP setup on the quad core. While linux smp is faster than windows it is only 5 - 6%, so there is problem somewhere.

My quad will pull 3 minute segments and while the AMD isn't quite there it should be knocking them out in 10 minutes or less.

Can you put -smp 4 in at the command line and see if that changes anything?

I added -smp 4 to the command line. no real change-we'll see with the next WU. What is the 4 signify? Cores?

Cores is correct. That sure is an odd deal. I have XP installed so I will set up a smp client on it and do some checking. If it slows down as much for me as it did for you at least we will know where the problem lies.

The next WU might change things as it has a fresh start with the -smp 4.
