Digital movie projection is now coming of age and current technology is seen to be good enough for big screen cinemas. Right now, most cinemas are still using 35mm film which is very prone to wear. Now that the industry has agreed on standards for digital projection systems, it is expected that there will be as many as 17,000 digital screens in the US, a few years from now. Digital projection makes 3D movies more viable in terms of cost. So, we could expect to see a revival of 3D over the coming years. Find out more here. Comment in the forum.
