Review: The Lord of the Rings - The Battle for Middle Earth (PC)
Solo Game Play
Game Graphics
Multi-player and Conclusion
Multi-player

It is possible to play against other human players either on a local area network or online via a built in game matching service. The game allows you to choose between playing 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2.

The first couple of online games I played timed-out after the first minute or so. I got lucky the third time and after a failed early attack I lost after about 30 minutes of play.

I think that multiplayer mode is likely to be of more interest to experienced gamers where things can be more challenging depending on the opponent.

multiplayer

It is possible to call in heros

There are currently some known issues with certain modem hardware, so it would be advisable to check EA's support pages to check that your harsware will work before buying the game. A patch of some kind is due for release soon.

Conclusion

As is the case with most games I can find a few things to moan about. Solo play could have had a bit more depth and intrigue to it. The sound and visual effects are quite impressive even if some of the heros kept ranting the same meaningless phrases.

I'm looking forward to playing some more online and seeing if I can crawl up the ladder ranking system.

Overall I would recommend this The Lord of The Rings : The Battle for Middle-Earth. Fight on!
