The Cabir mobile phone virus isn't new but has now shown up in 16 different countries. Despite this it is quite slow in spreading and most phones cannot be affected.
Cabir spreads between Nokia phones that have Bluetooth and run the Series 60 (Symbian based) UI. The virus itself is not destructive, but does prove that it is possible for a phone virus to reach around the world. However, unlike most Windows viruses, you have to manually run the SIS file that is sent from an infected phone.
If you think your phone may be at risk, just change the bluetooth settings on your phone to nondiscoverable and don't accept any file transfers from unknown sources.
