According to Mike Magee, founder of the Register and Inquirer web sites, AMD has some kind of trick up its sleeve, and that Nvidia is in for a shock later this year.

He hasn't revealed his source, but claims that they are reliable.

Apparently, AMD's secret weapon is code-named "Thunder".  I think it is safe to say that AMD presently needs all the thunder it can get.
