Microsoft: A profitable failure Print

CEO Steve Ballmer's days numbered?

Despite Micorsoft's healthy profits in a slow economy, its recent major ventures have turned in poor results.  First we had Vista, which has not lived up to expectations, leading to a lengthening of Windows XP's lifetime.  Second, Microsoft contiunes to make a loss online, despite Google making it all look very easy.  Finally, Microsoft's bid to take-over Yahoo appears to be going the wrong way for Ballmer.

"This is a company that screwed up a real important product transition, and you've got to lay the majority of the blame at the foot of the CEO," says Paul Kedrosky, a venture capitalist and blogger.

Do you think Steve Ballmer will be gone soon? Tell us in the forum.
