Thermaltake Max and DuOrb review Print
Written by Gizmo

Icrontic evaluate these two units and share the results:

Today, we have two of their newest CPU coolers in the labs—the DuOrb and MaxOrb. You may be familiar with the very popular Thermaltake DuOrb VGA cooler that they also produce. The DuOrb CPU cooler employs the same basic shape and cooling principals, but has been reworked for CPU use. We'll also be taking a look at the new MaxOrb—a single 120mm model.

Read the full review at Icrontic:

Thermaltake has taken the road less traveled with their new DuOrb CPU cooler. Dual fans in a down-draft configuration is not something we see every day. CoolerMaster did something similar not long ago with their popular GeminII heatsink. Although a configuration of this sort can provide substantial airflow to motherboard components and other accessories, tower based, side flow heatsinks are typically the performance leaders.

Thermaltake's MaxOrb is a similar looking product to their DuoOrb, save an orb. The similarities end at basic appearance, however. The overall design reminds me a lot of some of Zalman's products, however Thermalright has been producing circular shaped heatsinks under the “orb” name for many years. Although the DuOrb has a lot of shock appeal due to its massive footprint, the MaxOrb has a much smaller foorprint and employs a single recessed fan.
