This is an image of the 'Pinwheel' galaxy (Messier 101), taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. (Actually, it is a composite of 51 separate images of this galaxy that were taken by the Hubble.) The Pinwheel Galaxy is believed to contain something on the order of 1 trillion stars, and has several active star forming regions.
