Page 5 of 7 Cutting a window: All of the same principles apply cutting a window into a power supply as cutting a window into a side panel. It is an almost identical procedure. Remove all circuitry and fans from the metal shell of the power supply, taking care not to shock yourself. Choose your desired side of the power supply, and mark out the area you wish to cut out using a pencil. It is suggested to leave 20mm between the edge of the hole and the side of the power supply. Drill a pilot hole in all corners of the window to prevent over cutting. I recommend using a 1/8 inch drill bit. A dremel would be the easiest way to accomplish the cutting part, but since I don’t have one I will be using an angle grinder, and believe me, it is much harder to control. Or it could be that this was my first time using an angle grinder. Take it slow and don’t rush the process, and you should achieve a good result and a smooth cut. If you plan on painting the metal shell, now would be the time before you attach the acrylic/mesh paneling. Cut about 20mm extra on all sides of the acrylic/mesh sheet to apply super glue to, to attach the sheet to the metal shell of the power supply.
