Sega Master System

In June 1986 the Sega Master System was first sold in the USA, then it went on sale in Japan in 1987. This unit is an 8-bit, third generation console.

  • Zilog Z80A 8 bit running at 3.54 Mhz (PAL/SECAM) or 3.57 MHz (NTSC)

Graphics

  • Texas Instruments TMS9918
  • 32 colours maximum (can be programmed to display 64 colours)
  • Resolutions: 256 x 192 pixels, 256 x 224 pixels (and 256 x 240 in PAL/SECAM only).
