For those wanting to install Windows 7 on a computer which has no CD/DVD drive, Microsoft has introduced Windows 7 for Netbooks, which can be downloaded only from their online store.

However, it's still very much a minority option and Linux's progress could be halted in its tracks by the release of Windows 7, which is widely seen as the logical upgrade for those still running XP.

A war has been raging between different web browsers for a long time now.

The two main combatants in the battle are Microsoft's Internet Explorer and Firefox from Mozilla. Microsoft is still in the lead in marketshare with IE, but Firefox is grabbing up a large portion of the market for itself.
Firefox hit the one billion download mark in August and has 32% of the browser market while IE holds about 60% of the market.

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission has taken the first step toward creating formal net neutrality rules, despite a huge lobbying effort from opposing groups in recent days.
