Ok. I admit it. I've got this Thing for Dragons. So, in amongst the other things that I've been doing, I've had it in the back of my mind to build my machine around a dragon theme. This is the first of the modifications that I have done.
The original artwork for this can be found
here. Judy is,
IMHO, a very talented young lady who shows real promise. She lives a couple of hours south of me.
Anyway, the first pictures are rather rough because I didn't have enough light and didn't want to use a flash because it washes out the image.
First off, I had Judy split the image into a foreground and background, then I had the great guys at
www.koolpcmods.com make me a laser etching of both the front and back on separate plates. Those are the first two shots.
Then, I took a piece of 1/4" plexi about 1/2" wide and 2" long and glued one small piece to each edge of the back plate, and then glued on the front plate (after making sure everything was clean, of course), using plastic cement. Once that set up, I drilled a small hole in each side just large enough for a high-brightness blue LED.
While I was waiting for the glue to set up, I cut a hole in my side panel a bit smaller than the plates and tacked the plates to the panel with a small bit of silicone rubber at 10 points around the edge.
Finally, I glued the LEDs in place, again with the plastic cement, wired everything up, let it setup, then put the panel back on the case for the final pic.
