Gah, this is why I never understood peoples' perception that Blu-Ray was a superior movie format. As stated in the article, these features have been around in HD-DVD since the beginning. Even the cheapest HD-DVD player had an ethernet port to update itself. Now, it seems that unless you're using a PS3 as your first-gen blu-ray player you're screwed when it comes to these new features.
As much as it seemed like putting the blu-ray drive into the PS3 was a mistake at the beginning, Sony knew exactly what they were doing. Bravo, Sony.
