Frankly, I'm still a bit lost as the whole 'netbook' thing. I mean, if the devices could be had for like $100 or so, that'd be something different, but with most netbooks doing less and costing more than a low-end notebook/laptop, I honestly don't see the point. That's just me, though.

WRT ChromeOS, it would IMO make a lot more sense for Google to drop ChromeOS altogether, take what they've learned, and fold that into Android for Netbooks. After all, Android is designed PRECISELY for the low-powered, resource limited type of devices represented by the netbooks (what is a netbook, really, but a smart phone with a bigger screen and no calling plan? Oh wait, some of them come with calling plans too....)
