He does not know what kind of mohterboard is in it, I have tried to get some info from there website but as you all know they ar "no good". I was wandering if anyone has attemped this or if it is worth attemping?

Such things have been done in the past.

Give us some more info on the system to go with. If it is an older K6-X system, more than likely you will just need to fiddle with a few jumpers to get her going a bit faster . . . . Nice thing about multi-plier jumpers is that there is just about always a "key" printed on the board . . . .

Once he goes home he will e-mail me the specs, i.e. motherboard, cpu, and such. He knows that it is a e tower 433i with and intel processor, sorry I'm in the wrong thread, but I didn't know until now.

You might also want to try SoftFSB by finding the clock gen and use the PLL number off it. I don't know how it will work because it might be dependent on the jumpers for the FSB its worth a try though.

http://www.podien.de/FSB.HTM

this will help you find the clock gen just in case you didn't know where it was. I am not implying that your dumb I just like to cover all the bases so people aren't like well ok so how do I do this. I like to get things all out in front of me...ramble ramble ramble... lol

While the inadequate cooling of an E-machine case/ps fan, nor its mighty 200watt or less, power supply really lend themselves to overclocking, it was possible on the older ones. The newer ones, such as the Emonsters, are already running at the maximum FSB the boards support. It's possible there are exceptions, but as someone already mentioned, more info would be needed.

In general, newer Emachines are not very overclocker friendly

Well, I do apogize. In my eagerness to post, I missed your picture and description. I would say there is a reasonable chance of pushing this beyond spec. Still no garauntee, but your chances will be better than w/ a newer model.

I still can't tell if that MB supports other FSB's or if it would work w/ proggys such as SoftFSB. I'll check Randy on that one

I'd keep the case and mod it out for max cooling and get a new board. Then you could overclock it all you wanted to
