![]() I'm happy to say that with the newest drivers 257.21 whql comes a new highest Vantage benchmark (P7455) to go along with it! ![]() ![]() So for those thinking of installing these new drivers I highly recommend them if you want a performance increase! ![]()

Well, I figured it was time to do some benchmarking with this GTX470, so here is my best run so far, at 800/1600/1700...driver 258.96. </flexing pecs vigorously> ![]()

![]() Well it's not as impressive as TR's score, but I'm happy with the overall results of my system's upgrade & gaming performance now... ![]() New highest score is P7472. CPU @ 4GHz had a lot to do with it of course... ![]()

Got a few new runs in today. This one was best:

I received my new QX9650 CPU a few days ago. I seem to have settled it down for a daily OC of 425x9.5=4.038G@1.315V. The FSB seems to be stable up to 445 at the 9.5 multi = 4.228G with 1.35V, passing a 24 hour run of OCCT there, but I'm still playing with the settings so I don't want to run it at that vcore constantly. Just for s*hits and giggles I tried the 10 multi and got it seemingly stable (1 hour OCCT) at 435FSB=4.35G. I had to use 1.51V, so that won't ever be my daily overclock, although I still have a bunch of things I might be able to do to get the voltage lower. I'm almost certain I can get more benchmark speed here since I know I can get the board to about 460FSB with enough volts. That's about where these X38 boards hit the wall, though, so the unlocked multi on the QX may be able to help me. I think I can get it stable at 450x10, or perhaps 430x10.5, but it will take some time to find all the sweet spots in the settings. The only problem I have seen with this chip is, like many of the older 45nm quads, one of the temp sensors is bugged and sits at 60C constantly. It's a well-documented bug so I'm not concerned. The other temps are in the low-to-mid 50s at load. Anyhow, here's my latest result on Vantage. It's more than 1000 points higher than my best run with my Q6600. I also ran SuperPI and broke into the 10's. That is much, much faster than the Q6600's best, 13.01@3.98G:

That's a pretty good score, much improved. Be careful with that core voltage on the 460, though. I didn't have to use nearly that much to get to 835 core clock on my 470. I don't think it's a good idea to go over 1.050V from what I've read.

Its a 465 same die as your 470 (my 465 is a ten chip 465 which means 470 labeled 465) and i saw your voltage maxed out in one of your pics so i said f it lets match it. I think we have the highest scores on here as of right now. Im going to try and get mine higher both cpu and gpu Last edited by Necorum; 30th November, 2010 at 12:25 AM. |

Yeah, I know the chip is the same...it was just a heads-up not to run it like that all the time. More than 1.050V on these things isn't a good idea for extended periods ![]()

I guess I will finally have to install Windows 7 on my rig, just to see how it runs Vantage. I picked up another 9800GTX for $50 a few months back, threw it in SLI but never benched it.

![]() OK here's what I along with a few of you have been waiting for that have been watching my posts on my new GTX 470 buy... So with that said, here ya go! ![]() Btw, I'm only using default voltage on the 470's 18% OC & its doing quite well! I was really surprised at how much my CPU score jumped!!! ![]() Overall I'm quite pleased with the performance increase of no less than double of the 8800GTS! ![]() One more thing, after looking at how close the 8800GTS was to the GTX470 I decided not to use it as a dedicated PhysX card because of the heat that would be generated. I wanted to keep this new card as cool as I can & with my current setup, it hasn't gone over 65c with a heavy load on it OCed... I'm sure the highflow bracket is helping this out as well. ![]()
