I would like help from the forums!

Hello Everyone.

As most here know Chris Bard and I have been hunting benchmarks. My focus has been entirely upon Linux Benchies. But this isn't the Linux benchmarks topic because WE don't get to have one of those!

And because I'm asking for help from our Windows using Members

(that sounds kinda pervey doesn't it..."Windows using", oh well no offence meant!)

I have two graphics bench marks. I have them by way of Wine and PlayOnLinux...they come with PlayOnLinux. Which of course means by implication they are native Windows/Intel benchmarks.

The first is FluidMark 1.3.1 by Intel
The second is FurMark 1.9.1 also by Intel

Windows users can find both benchmarks at ozone 3D net

This is the download page

3D Marks they are not, but may be of some use to me here.

I would like to see benchmarks of Linux graphic performance using Wine and PlayOnLinux in comparison to various MS destros running the same bench natively in Windows.

It seems to me PlayOn and Wine must pay some kind of cost in performance. I'd like to gain a general idea of how much/ as When I play half-life though Wine, PlayOnLinux and Steam I seem to be getting the whole life! "

For my two tests I'm running a 2600K i7 on a Sabertooth Z77 Motherboard.

16 gigs of G.Skill DDR 2133 RAM.

My Cpu is overclocked to 4800. Both Graphics card and CPU are water-cooled.

I have a Geforce 88000GTS with 640 megs of RAM. My Geforce is at stock settings.

I'm going to post initial findings. Just so people get an idea of what to expect. However I'd like some help setting up these benchmarks to get the best across the board results. Things like resolution and choice off settings....

Hey I'm a noob, I'm just curious! ":O}

Update...When using Fur marks Linux users will be limited to the "BenchMark no preset" setting

What can I say, I wish it were other wise! ":O}

It's called emulation Baby! And there is NOTHING MS can do about it! "Hey bill look! I'm impersonating your OS!! ":O}

Thanks Chris Your dual-boot will be particularly useful as all the hardware will be the same. We should be able to see the two different software configurations quite clearly...

I hasten to remind and add this isn't a straight up Linux vs Windows. This is to see how well Linux can emulate windows graphic benchmarks...Naturally I would hope to see Linux do as well or better, but have no reason to think it will at this point.
