my monitor mod

got tired of the usual mods,so,i thought i'd try something a little different.not quite finished, paint job and powder coating to go mostly.also, none of my cooling is cut out yet.the holes you see down one side are two hardcano 8's ,enought to control 8 fans.let me know what you think.-Mike

http://members.shaw.ca/northvanmike/

it also has a zip drive and 6 in 1 card reader and floppy. mobo is an a-open mx4gr(micro atx) with a p4 1.6(a)ghz running @ 2.13ghz with 512mb samsung ddr ram with tt active cooling.for storage i'm running 3 18gig scsi drives off an Adaptec 29160 pci controller. burner is also scsi. lcd monitor is a samsung syncmaster 570v(slightly modified)

Very nice work! Now that Apple's stopped producing iMacs, perhaps we can have a kickass PC version.

The quality of your work means it's up on the front page!

Great drive placement, makes an iMac look stunted in it's development. Very nice!

ok thanks guys. couple more weeks and i'm rocking. btw, what do you think of candy apple red? i dunno yet.

one of the more challenging parts of this project was making a plexi door in the back of the monitor where i made a large cut out. all the sides were curved, and the long sides were in fact "ess" shaped.so i researched the 'net and found this guy who did it in his oven by slumping it on a form.building the form was a challenge in itself, but on my third piece of frosted plexi, success!

Great Mod N.V.M., looking good. Make sure you post pic's when your done. If you haven't decided on a color yet, "Duplicolor" has some good Mirage kits. I found them at Auto Zone for for about $20.00 US. Just a thought.

I used to use the RC paint made for plastics, but I have found the automotive paint is a lot easier to work with but you have to prime the plastic and metal parts differently

Absotively beauteous! Talk about attention to detail? You are DA man in the custom mod zone! Are you going to give it a green final coat?
